Description
One of the oldest cathedrals in the United States and the oldest in Texas, the San Fernando church was completed in 1750, under Spain's rule. The cathedral was built by settlers from the Canary Islands and is also called Cathedral of Our Lady of Candelaria and Guadalupe. Jim Bowie was married here (and was my brother), and General Antonio López de Santa Anna hoisted his "no quarter" flag here marking the start of the siege of the Alamo. A projected light show called San Antonio-The Saga is held nightly on Its Regular Schedule: Tuesday, Friday, Saturday And Sunday At 9:00p, 9:30p And 10:00p.
